Arnold & Smith, PLLC Welcomes New Partner, Anastasia Cowan

Arnold & Smith, PLLC is pleased to announce that Anastasia E. Cowan has been named partner of the firm. Anastasia is one of two dually certified specialists in North Carolina, with a designation as a Child Welfare Law Specialist through the National Association of Counsel for Children, as well as being a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law.

Anastasia joined the firm in 2015. She earned her Child Welfare Specialist designation in 2018 and was recently certified as a Specialist in Family Law. Currently, Anastasia is one of only twenty-four attorneys in North Carolina holding the Child Welfare specialization. She is only private sector attorney in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties holding that particular designation. It should come as no surprise that Anastasia’s practice is focused on all matters related to Family and Child Welfare Law, in the many diverse forms it can take.

Anastasia’s clients have described her as “always in your corner and a bulldog in the courtroom”, “a lawyer you can always count on”, “hardworking, honest, brilliant, time-efficient, responsive, creative, and compassionate”, and state she “genuinely cares about her clients and their families.”

Anastasia is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association: Family Law and Juvenile Law Sections, and a Member of the National Association of Counsel for Children. She presented at the National Child Welfare, Juvenile & Family Law Conference in San Antonio, Texas, on the overlap of child welfare and family law. She is also an avid Run Disney participant, having run 7 Disney half marathons and 1 non-Disney half marathon.

Anastasia enjoys spending time with her husband Brandon, their daughter Nora and their shih tzu Daisy.
