Charlotte Traffic Charge Lawyers

Every day, many Charlotte residents receive traffic tickets. Many people do not realize that you have options when you get a traffic ticket. Hiring a lawyer can help you fight your traffic charges effectively. While you always have the option to handle your traffic charge yourself, hiring a lawyer can help you tremendously. When traffic citations are not handled correctly, the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles may suspend your license.

Your Options After You Get a Traffic Ticket

The first option you have is to pay your ticket online, in person, or by mailing a check. This is not always a good idea, however. By paying your ticket automatically, you are pleading guilty to the traffic charge. By pleading guilty, you will not receive a reduction in insurance points. You will also be required to pay the entire amount of the fine.

Downside of Representing Yourself When it Comes to Your Traffic Ticket

You have a right to represent yourself when you go to court. The state of North Carolina prefers when people come to represent themselves. The process is almost always faster when people represent themselves because they do not request evidence or challenge the process. By hiring an attorney, you can avoid having to drive to downtown Charlotte, park, and take time out of your workday to walk to the courthouse and appear. You will spend time going through security and waiting in long lines.

When you let the lawyers at Arnold & Smith PLLC, handle your traffic ticket, you will not have to spend your time dealing with the ticket and the court procees. Let our legal team handle it and we can fight to negotiate your fine so you will not have to pay as much. We will try to negotiate a reduction in your fee and save you the insurance points, which will save you additional money. The savings of hiring our law firm are often easily justified.

How Our Lawyers Fight for You

After you hire us, we will go to court to represent you on your scheduled court date. You will not have to park and wait in line as we will do that for you. We will review the state’s evidence against you and review your entire file.

We will find any inconsistencies in the state’s case against you and use them to negotiate with the Assistant District Attorney to dismiss your charges or reduce your charges. Once your case is resolved, we will email you a confirmation of the outcome of your case. The most common traffic ticket is for speeding. We know how to make all of the best defenses including improper equipment and a PJC (prayer for judgment continued).

North Carolina Will Take Your Failure to Appear Seriously

Whatever you do, make sure that you appear in court for your traffic citation, when necessary. The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles will revoke your driver’s license as well as the right to drive on an out-of-state license when you fail to appear in court. Additionally, if you fail to pay the fine and costs of a ticket, you could receive a suspended driver’s license. The driver’s license revocation will remain in effect until you go to court.
