Best Lawyer in Charlotte Award

Our very own Brad Smith was recently honored to be named one of the Charlotte Observer’s “Readers’ Choice” award winners. Every year the newspaper asks its readers about their favorites things around town, from restaurants to nightclubs to lawyers.

This past year the Observer polled readers and asked them to list their favorite people, places and things across more than 120 categories. Of all those who participated, both online and in print, Brad Smith secured first place in the 2013 Readers’ Choice category “Best Lawyer in Charlotte.”

Though Brad is far too humble to brag about his latest award, we should mention that the praise is well deserved. Brad Smith has dedicated his career to helping North Carolinians in need. Regardless of the type of case, Brad has experience successfully handling a range of criminal issues, from drunk driving arrests all the way to aggravated felony charges.

Brad grew up here in Charlotte and graduated from Charlotte Country Day. He went on to North Carolina State University and finally to Mercer University, where he attended law school. While at Mercer, Brad was president of the school’s Federalist Society and appeared on the Dean’s List. Brad’s legal career began here in Charlotte in the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office. After gaining experience handling a wide array of complex criminal matters, Brad chose to leave the DA’s office and establish his own firm so he could help those he believed needed it the most.

Since beginning his practice, Brad has won an array of awards. In 2011, he appeared in Lawyers Weekly Magazine where he was named an “Emerging Legal Leader” in North Carolina. Brad was also named a “Top 100 Trial Lawyer” by the National Trial Lawyers Association and is frequently called upon by reporters to weigh in on important legal issues impacting North Carolinians.

Though it comes as no surprise to those that know him well, it is gratifying that Brad was named the “Best Lawyer in Charlotte.” We’d like to thank the readers of the Observer for the honor and offer to assist anyone who might be in need. As the recently named “Best Lawyer in Charlotte,” Brad Smith would be happy to help.
